2 weeks’ jail for kindergarten principal applicant with forged credentials
Zhong Anqi Angela, 43, took polishing her resume to a different level when she submitted forged documents to Al-Amin Tampines Preschool for the role of principal. Checks by the Early Childhood Development Agency brought her misdeeds to light when a manager realized that her documents for registration could not be verified.
She had used Microsoft Paint to change her GCE O-Level Certificate grade for English Language from D7 to B3, having attained the former grade twice. A falsified certification letter from the Ministry of Education had also been submitted to certify her for the role.
According to District Judge Teo, a custodial sentence was warranted given the seriousness of the offence. Having pleaded guilty and taking action to compensate her former employers through paying over S$5,000, the court considered such factors of mitigation in their verdict to sentence her to 2 weeks’ jail.
