Tesla billionaire CEO Elon Musk pranks internet again

Elon Musk tweeted on 17th August that he was going to buy English football club Manchester United – only to then backtrack later in a tweet that he was “not buying any sports teams”.
Manchester United, one of the most recognisable global football brands, has underachieved on the pitch in recent years. Despite huge commercial success, the football club has seen eight coaches come and go in less than 10 years with relatively little achievements. Fans are increasingly fed up that top coaches have failed to turn the club’s on-the-pitch performance around, and there is a growing consensus that the club’s owners, the American Glazer family, have prioritised commercial profits at the expense of on-field success.
Musk, apparently aware of the turmoil at Manchester United, decided to join in the fun – leaving investors and fans alike guessing as to whether he would begin his foray into the world of sports.
Musk latest shenanigan on Twitter follows a long history of pranks and mischiefs.
In 2018, Musk famously tweeted he had funding to take Twitter private, but did not make an offer. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) fined Musk and Tesla $20 million each, and Musk stepped down as Tesla’s chairman.
In the same year, Musk called a British diver participating in the Thai cave rescue a “pedo” after the diver called Musk’s offer of mini-submarines a “PR stunt”.
Perhaps by now, we should learn our lesson and take whatever Musk says with a pinch of salt.
