Bubble Trouble: Hougang Condo Security Guard Spills the Tea (Literally) at the Guardhouse
Ever lived in a condominium and wondered where did your Grab order go? It might be worth checking the guardhouse, just to be sure. One such incident happened on September 15, at the Central View condominium guardhouse, between a security guard and a delivery rider.
According to a video, a delivery rider is shown leaving a customer’s bubble tea order at the guardhouse after the customer failed to provide their unit number and could not be reached. The security guard, appearing visibly frustrated, grabs the drinks and says, “I throw ah? Put here, I throw already.” Despite the rider repeatedly urging the guard not to dispose of the drinks and informing him that the customer had been contacted, the guard persisted in his intention to throw them away.
After a tense exchange, the rider slowly backs away, reminding the guard that the customer had already paid for the order. However, just as the rider finishes speaking, the security guard hurls the bag towards him, causing the drinks to spill out onto the road. An awkward silence ensued, as both men stared at the pearls rolling down the road.
On September 16, a Shin Min Daily News reporter visited the scene to interview the guard involved in the incident. The guard explained that, for safety reasons, leaving customers’ orders at the guardhouse violates the management’s regulations. While he claimed he did not intend to throw the drinks, he became furious after the delivery rider repeatedly ignored his warnings.
