Big Dreams, A Bigger Pandemic and A Shrinking Economy – India’s Cautionary Tale
India, the world’s fifth biggest economy is rapidly losing its status in its battle with the Coronavirus pandemic that has untethered the world. With an economy that has shrunk 24% in the last quarter and an estimated 200 million that will slip back into poverty, a sense of disenchantment is insidiously spreading across the nation. The government’s initial lackadaisical attitude and later impulsive response to the pandemic only serves to depress India’s economy further. However, even with the odds stacked against them, India still sees a glimmer of hope in their young and youthful workforce, and the oodles of tech geniuses the country churns out.
