Dirty track record: Iswaran faces corruption charges involving items worth more than $380k

In the largest corruption scandal that has rocked Singapore since 1986, Transport Minister S Iswaran resigned from his post after he was formally handed 27 charges by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau. These included 24 charges of obtaining gratification as a public servant, two charges of corruption, and one charge of obstructing the course of justice, to which Iswaran pleaded not guilty. He is estimated to have obtained $347,152.10 in tickets to the Singapore Grand Prix, along with private jet rides to Doha, and tickets to theatre shows and football matches in the UK, with the total amounting to over $380k.
