Should Trump really have been banned from Twitter?

When it comes to such controversial decisions, it is inevitable for the discourse surrounding it to delve into a nasty political melee, with the lines clearly drawn, and the war-horns sounding in the background.

However, rather than engaging in such unhelpful discussions, it is sometimes imperative to take a step back and view the implications that such a decision can have on the bigger picture, unencumbered by one’s political affiliations.

Be it Republican or Democrat, Twitter’s decision to ban the account of the man leaving the office of the President of the United States sets a dangerous precedent which affords social media giants the power to pull the proverbial strings of the political arena.

A slippery slope indeed.
