Smooth Sailing Ahead: Woodlands Checkpoint Set for Significant Expansion in 2025

Starting from 2025, work to expand Singapore’s Woodlands Checkpoint to five times its current size is set to commence. Redevelopment efforts are in response to the increasing volume of travelers passing through the Checkpoint. Projections suggest that by 2050, the number of travelers passing through will increase to 400,000 per day, compared to just 230,000 in 2000. Once fully developed, the average clearance time will also be reduced from 60 minutes to 15 minutes during peak periods, ensuring smoother traffic flow.
